Drones – MHB Consultants

Drones can be effective in reducing costs and cutting fieldwork hours and can allow access to otherwise inaccessible areas. Drones can also provide a perspective which cannot be seen from ground level; therefore, they can help to provide information that can enhance planning justifications and decisions. Drone imagery allows planners to make well-informed assessments about how to use the land because it gives them a bird’s-eye view of the terrain thereby providing an improved understanding of relationships between spatial and social assets.

LASplanning regularly use drone imagery in their work with consultants to assist in the visualisation of sites. The below imagery was used for the purposes of site investigation work and establishing the most appropriate scope for expansion to an approved chalet/lodge site. The site is rural and therefore has natural and built environment sensitivities which need to be considered, in planning terms, and which are most visible from drone imagery.
